Créé en 2017, Paradiso Records est un hommage vibrant aux 80’s : italo-disco, new wave, synth-pop, autant de styles qui nous font replonger quelques années en arrière. On a échangé quelques mots avec REES, label manager, producteur et DJ au sujet de la prochaine sortie signé Disco Mortale (aka Daniel Monaco) et Sauvage World.  

Quelle est l’histoire du label ? 

Paradiso a été créé en 2017 dans la ville de Middlesbrough. À l’origine, c’était à la fois un label et un blog sans trop de direction artistique musicale. Sa réelle maturité, identité remonte à 2019  grâce aux sorties d’artistes étonnants et talentueux comme Man Power, Tronik Youth ou Tech Support. 

Quelle est devenue la ligne artistique du label ?

Paradiso est une planète lointaine, qui incarne le grand art et la musique. Je suis un grand fan d’art abstrait ; des textures, des formes et des couleurs uniques qui s’assemblent, c’est ce que nous essayons de faire ressortir dans le graphisme de nos albums. Musicalement, nous essayons de faire hommage aux sonorités d’il y a quelques décennies. L’italo, le synth-pop, la new wave, la trance et la body music sont des influences que vous pouvez retrouver à travers toute notre discographie.

Peux-tu nous parler de la prochaine release de Disco Mortale (aka Daniel Monaco) et Sauvage World ? 

Une sortie super excitante ! Tout d’abord parce que c’est le premier 12″ du label, une étape importante pour tout label (et pour tout amateur de disques). Ensuite parce que les artistes présents sur l’EP sont remarquables : Disco Mortale, Sauvage World, Curses et Freudenthal. Il reflète parfaitement ce qu’est le label, un doux mélange entre italo et EBM que Daniel et Sauvage ont su manier à merveille ! Curses injecte sa touche punk dans son remix tandis que Freudenthal interprète parfaitement sa vision de l’italo – le disque parfait, si je puis dire !

Des projets sur le feu ?

Pleins de belles sorties à venir, avec un autre disque en Février avec Dario Dea, Lauer, Benjamin Fröhlich et plus ! Et aussi des apparitions à la radio, du merchandising et des concerts en collaboration avec d’autres labels au Royaume-Uni et en Europe.

What’s the history of the label?

Paradiso began back in 2017 in the town of Middlesbrough, as both a blog and a label, it was quite different at the beginning with no strict direction on sound. It came to find it’s own identity and mature around 2019 and since then has gone from strength to strength welcoming many amazing artists like Man Power, Tronik Youth and Tech Support.

What is the artistic direction of the label? 

Paradiso is a distant planet, embodying great art and music. I’m a huge fan of abstract art; clever and unique textures, shapes and colours coming together is we try to put across in the artwork of our releases. Musically, we captivate a world of yesteryear; italo, synth-pop, new wave, trance and body music are influences you can hear through our whole discography.

Can you talk to us about the upcoming release of Disco Mortale (aka Daniel Monaco) and Sauvage World?

Super exciting release! First off this is the first 12″ on the label, a nice milestone for any label (and record lover), secondly the line up on the EP is ridiculous; Disco Mortale, Sauvage World, Curses and Freudenthal. It captures perfectly what the label is all about, an italo-EBM wonderland from Daniel and Sauvage! Curses injects his deadly punk touch onto his remix while Freudenthal keeps the dream of Italo alive with his rendition – the perfect record, if I do say so myself!
