La prochaine sortie de Richie Hawtin va être dédiée à sa tournée de shows audio-visuels, « CLOSE ». Intitulé « CLOSE COMBINED », ce mix-album techno permettra de regarder (et d’écouter) au plus près sa performance futuriste entre DJing et live. 

CLOSE COMBINED sera une sorte de mix-album évolutif, qui combinera l’audio à la vidéo, comme lors des shows exceptionnels qu’il avait donné dans le monde l’année dernière. Outre Tokyo, Londres ou Glasgow, on se souvient de sa performance incroyable à l’Olympia de Paris, ou au festival Nuits sonores de Lyon.  

« Je crois qu’à mesure que notre scène est devenue plus populaire, la définition du DJing est devenue plus étroite« , a déclaré Hawtin. « Je veux être aussi transparent que possible sur pourquoi, comment et ce que je joue, afin de mettre l’accent sur la spontanéité intuitive qui est au cœur de chaque grande performance de DJ. » Raison pour laquelle ce mix-album a été « conçu pour apporter davantage de transparence à l’art du DJing à l’âge du ‘press-play. »

Ce format de vidéo innovant sera une manière pour lui de se mettre à nu. Présentée en mode portrait à la vertical, trois cadres les uns sous les autres permettent d’observer plusieurs angles du show, de voir ses machines au plus près, ou de revivre les effets visuels en arrière-plan. Le tout, comme s’il était filmé avec un smartphone. Déstabilisant, mais vraiment intéressant.

Cette sortie sera disponible sur YouTube, Apple Music et Facebook Video. Une version audio distribuée par Plus 8 Records est aussi disponible sur toutes les plateformes de streaming, depuis le 20 septembre.
